Debian v3.0 R1 and bootloader problems "L0 L0 ..."

I've just installed Debian v3.0 R1 and as the bootloader part should be displayed I get a continously never-ending "L0" so it looks like "L0 L0 ..." and it keeps printing that ...

I tried with the NON-US-Version. I've also verified the md5 checksums and they are okay ...

HDD is IBM DAQA 33240

Any ideas ?

Post your lilo.conf and your partition table info.

it's the lilo.conf that has been generated during installation. just created 2 partitions, 1 = linux, 1 = swap ...

Try to boot up on the cd and use the rescue function, i mean it's:
rescue root=/dev/hdaX
where X is your partition number. press F3 to see about the rescue function

Well to close this thread the problem is just the lilo part - and NOT the partition layout. Let's say you have following:

Primary Master: some HDD
Primary Slave: some HDD
Secondary Master: some CDROM
Secondary Slave: HDD where Debian will be installed on

And now you are at the point of the install process where you can choose where to install lilo. It should be possible to install in in /dev/hdd ... but your only choices are /dev/hda or /dev/hddX ... if you install it in /dev/hddX you will get the L01 error (depending on your BIOS) and in /dev/hda it didn't work either.

How I solved this?
Removed the POWER for Primary Master and Slave ... (no it's not enough to just put NOT INSTALLED in the BIOS setup) ... and then installed lilo in /dev/hdd and activated Virtual IDE Device Mapping ... and ... it WORKS !

After that you can of course put the POWER on those devices on again ... now you can choose in your BIOS which OS to boot ... and at a later point intall GRUB as a bootloader .. it's capable of mastering this!
