Debian 2.4 on a Jornada 820

I have a very old WinCE device that I sometimes play with that I've been able to boot Debian with a 2.4 kernel from a CF card. The card boots from a small Fat 16 partition to a ramdisk and then pivot roots to an Ext2 linux install. Works great. I posted about it here: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ml#post5689471

It boots and recognizes both a pcmcia network card and a wireless card. When I try to boot with a pcmcia Type 11 PC Card HDD in the slot it gives an error message: "cs: socket c0037800 timed out during reset. Try increasing setup_delay." Anybody know what file to change to mitigate this situation? Obviously this is just a toy but it irks me that I haven't found a solution on the Web.

I was going to suggest trying slackware's earlier versions that are still up on there sight, but if its arm I do not know if Slackware supported ARM back then.

as far a setup delay is that the time out for the kernel to wait for devices to catch up?

Thanks for the reply. "setup_delay=n
Sets the delay between when a card is first detected, and when it will be powered up. In 1/100 second increments, the default is 5." http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/man/pcmcia_core.4.html

Apparently it's a parameter in the module controlling when a socket device driver is loaded. In this case for the pcmcia hard drive. The little Jornada has been a fun device to play with and was quite functional in it's day.

The network card and the wireless card are recognized straight away but the h/d times out.
