Hi,

I'm trying to install a second server with Debian (my favorite distro) but the bootfloppies (rescue floppies in Debian-tech-talk ) don't seem to work. When the kernel boots (the bf24 Woody kernel (2.4-18)) the kernel panics with a bad EIP value (??).

I suspect it is caused by my new Promiss IDE controller (without it, and with a small hdd connected to the motherboard's ide controller it boots fine). If it is the lack of support of this new ide controller by Debian's bootfloppies, then I want to create bootfloppies that support the latest hardware. Anyone any suggestions where to find the latest and greatest bootfloppies ? it does not matter which distro

oh well. If anyone can point me into any direction of images of bootfloppies for whatever distro, as long as they're new (and support new hardware) then I don't ming!

Maybe build the additional modules on your current Debian box and load them using the boot floppies?

I could do this but the problem is the card *should* be supported by the bootfloppies. However I am inclined to think this card is a new revision (chipset PDC 20268) and I haven't had any luck finding a module for Debain 3.0 rc2 that specifically says to support this chipset number

I could be wrong here ofcourse (please tell me if so!) but that's why I am looking for ANY bootfloppy images, as long as they support the latest hardware....

Any help greatly appreciated as I can't even begin installing linux now (bummer!).
