crontab : why root can't execute ??

dear all,
I have a script that had to be executed every night, the problem is when I assigned that script into crontab using root it won't execute, but it will execute using another user.
Why root can't execute the script using crontab ?

thanks in advance.

Root can execute scripts using crontab. Check out the cron logs to find the exact error. Is this the exact syntax

* * * * * root /pathtoscript

Thumbs up

hi mether, thanks for the reply
I found that we used to write (if this file no exists) cron.allow and put it in folder /etc (for RedHat distro) and then write down users that have right to execute using crontab
it works for me..thanks
