HELP! Here it is, just when kde 2.1.2 begins settling down from boot up, it gets all these old icons and new icons all packed tight and flashing in and out of existance in the upper left hand corner (corrupt desktop), then it goes normal (icons go into place upon desktop and ones that no longer exist go away), except I am unable to use some graphical software (yast2, imici) that requires ?three windows from the same prog. Any ideas on how to solve the corruption? I have tried removing stay on top stuff, changing resolutions, cleaning history, single backgrounds and different themes. My other logins don't have these problems. Hmmm? Ideas? Thanks -cg
Okay, first, Robert_L, THANK YOU! My icon problem wasn't solved, BUT, I was having this %$%^%$$ problem with yast2, I wasn't able to add/remove via gui, I had to use text. The problem was in my autostart, I was able to narrow it down to that folder from the results of renaming KDE2. That prob was much more of a pain than some silly icons.
I have temp solved the icon problem, it seems, that what is corrupting the desktop is shortcuts to apps in the menu. I have this method of learning where I drag a link from the menu onto the desktop, for later brain candy. So, I moved all the icons into folders on the desktop. These icons (folders) don't seem to ^&%$up the desktop. It's temp, but I have a start to work from now.
Thank you again, that yast2 was keeping me from sleeping, I had to figure it out or reinstall, it was just to much. That thing lasted atleast 2 months and everything in my linux is so built around me, to reinstall would have been a gut rencher. Best-Captgoodnight.
