Compiling Athlon RPM's

With several of my RPM builds I am finding that they are larger than the original i586 packages. Why?

This is the the basic line that is used on src.rpm: rpmbuild --rebuild --target athlon blah.src.rpm.

Any ideas?

When you mean bigger, do you mean substantially bigger or slightly bigger than your i586 rpms. If they are just slightly bigger, you have nothing to worry about because this could be a result of the optimisation for athlon systems.

They are all substantially bigger. For example: kbear is normally around 2.3MB, i586, and when I compile kbear it is 14.4MB. Now that is quite a lot bigger, and it has me stumped.
