Chroot from Windows

Hi!

I have a linux installation system on my usb hard disk. I want to work on it by chrooting it from windows. Is there a way to do so? The main problem in using a Knoppix CD etc. is that the internet connection is set by the service provider and I don't have any idea how to set up by myself. So, I would like to chroot from my running Windows to the installed linux system and use internet etc. I checked but Cygwin doesn't chroot

chroot is a Linux command---it is not going to work in Windows.

I don't know how to connect "linux installation system from on my usb hard disk" with "using a Knoppix CD" What exactly is your system setup?

Finally, this is not a place you want to be:

Get us the basic settings, and we'll show you how to set them in Linux.

The thing is, the computer is not mine.

Actually, I have a usb hard disk of some 320 gb. On that, I have two partitions: fat32 and ext3

On ext3 partition, I have installed Gentoo. Now I want to update that system. I don't have access to internet per say, but one of my friend has (and he uses Windows). Now I want to use that system to update the system I have on my hard disk.

If I had known how to setup the internet connection, I would have used Knoppix CD (for example), set up the internet connection, done a chroot to the Gentoo system on my usb harddisk, and then updated it. But unfortunately, the internet connection is setup by the service provider and is password protected, and only my service provider known the password. Now I know that it is a lousy way to provide internet but it is not my computer I cannot do much about it.

The only way remaining it to enter my Gentoo Linux system installed on my usb harddisk from Windows. And I have no idea how to do so....

So is there any way I can use chroot from Windows? Or any other thing?
