The thing is, the computer is not mine.
Actually, I have a usb hard disk of some 320 gb. On that, I have two partitions: fat32 and ext3
On ext3 partition, I have installed Gentoo. Now I want to update that system. I don't have access to internet per say, but one of my friend has (and he uses Windows). Now I want to use that system to update the system I have on my hard disk.
If I had known how to setup the internet connection, I would have used Knoppix CD (for example), set up the internet connection, done a chroot to the Gentoo system on my usb harddisk, and then updated it. But unfortunately, the internet connection is setup by the service provider and is password protected, and only my service provider known the password. Now I know that it is a lousy way to provide internet but it is not my computer I cannot do much about it.
The only way remaining it to enter my Gentoo Linux system installed on my usb harddisk from Windows. And I have no idea how to do so....
So is there any way I can use chroot from Windows? Or any other thing?
