Question Charset support in Linux

My system:
Enigma2 (some flavor of Linux) running on Kathrein 910 sat box.
Enigma2 is available as "compile yourself" package.

The problem:
mount command refuses "-o iocharset=xxxxx,codepage=xxx" options.

It's the same for all file systems, but I only have vfat (fat32) in mind.

I cannot set iocharset/codepage of the mounted drives to UTF8, western European charset is used by default and I get "????" instead of Cyrillic letters.

The question(s):
Which part of Linux/utils needs to be recompiled, to enable "iocharset=utf" option in "mount"?

I think the parameter for setting vfat to Unicode is just "-o utf8". "iocharset" is for the udf system. Look at the man page for mount.

It works! Thanks a lot.

PS
Seems like this manual is outdated or for the wrong system:
http://linux.die.net/man/8/mount
