The only way that I've found to do on any distro is to find out what .png is being used and save a copy of the pic you're wanting to use as that file name in that exact directory.
KDE will still be using the "same" pic although it's contents will be different.
The pics for most themes are installed in /usr/share/ somewhere.
hehe i found it, thx for the reply m8.
btw, for more people wanting to change their 'start-menu button of kde', heres how you do it (at least at my mandy 9.1):
1. go to /usr/share/icons, then find the name of your style and enter that directory
2. youll see directories like 16x16, 32x32, 64x64 etc, and youll need to enter the correct directory. ie: if my taskbar size is 'normal', the directory you want is 32x32.
3. replace go.png and kmenu.png with the icons you want the start menu button to be.
4. restart kde and enjoy
1.Right click on Start Icon.
2. In the Context Menu Click "Edit Panel".
3. Keep Mouse Arrow On start icon.
4. Pop will Appear with "Configure" option.
5. Click Configure.
6.Configure Window is easy and Self Explanatory.

akbarmitgm It's always a good idea to look at the last date on a post before responding. As you can see in this case, the last post was over "16 YEARS AGO" so I doubt it would be much help. I believe you have set a necro-post record.

It's amazing, I never (In the past) bothered to check dates. I will now! However, I seldom engage with the forum except when I have a question, and I doubt that I'm experienced enough with Linux to be of much help. Perhaps someday!
Maybe all who have responded to this necro thread should get in the habit of checking thread/posts dates. No need to continue response since it is creating noise to the forum for a dead thread.
Yes, I too responded but to bring notice of a need for others to follow a suggestion.
Personal pet peeve of mine. As long as a post is near the top of google searches, it really isn't "necro". So ya, this thread is still relevant, and thanks to akbarmitgm for providing up to date info. It was helpful.
