Change terminal font

Hey all

I'm starting to use the virtual terminals (Ctrl-Alt F1-6) more now but i'd like to be able to change the font size (i'm used to higher res, more text on screen)... I've looked around google and also through LQ but can't find anything...

Do you use lilo? If so edit your lilo.conf and change the "vga=<something>" to "vga=ask". This will give you some options on boot. You can then remember which option you selected and put it into the "vga=" line. Remember to run lilo after ou edit lilo.conf.

K i didn't realise it had anything to do with it (well that's 4 things i've learned today)

I actually use Grub (nicer boot screen)... did a grep vga /boot/grub/* and there doesn't seem to be a vga setting in that folder....

I'm not entirely sure about grub. I've only ever used lilo. It looks OK to me. Why don't you try it and see.

Tried it and worked - BUT when I change it to vga=030c it says "You passed an undefined mode number" and asks you to select it again...

Any ideas what you would change it to for lilo (for 132x60)...

K i've found something on it - it says to convert the o3oc to decimal (which turns out to be 780) so you have vga=780...

I'll try and post my results.

If I recall correctly you can also put an "0x" in front of it to specify a hexadecimal number.

On that page it says to convert the hex value (030c) to a decimal (780)...
