When I copy mp3 dvds and cds to the hardrive a lot of the time I get
a bunch of

"cp: reading `moby - 7.mp3': Input/output error" where moby - 7 could be anything.

This could be single files or even whole albums(directories). This problem is temporary, sometimes I can copy everything, sometimes I can't. The problem is not with my devices because I tried with 3, all give same results.

I have searched google for this, and see that a lot of people have the same problem with different file types, so its not just mp3s.

What distro are you running?

If running Mandrake try disabling supermount. See man pages on supermount for details.

my distribution is Slackware 9.0. I dont think that has supermount. I use mount and umount commands.
