cant write to dos partition


hi.
mount -t vfat /dev/hdc1 /mnt/dosc

this works ok when I am root.
but, when log on as a user the partition can not be written to.

linux wont let me mount it if I am not root.

correct. you need to set the option -o umask=000 to let everyone write to it.

also you'll need an fstab entry for non root users to mount it. please search this site for more info.

thanks, it worked.

I have never heard of the umask option.

Now more pressing questions:
How do I make the 'num-lock' stay on when I log off?
(redhat 8)

or, you could use the sudoers file try man visudo
