Exclamation cannot connect to display

hi,

i m trying to compile a source tree by using the make command...

and i get the following error, despite having exported the DISPLAY variable.

Application initialization failed: couldn't connect to display "192.168.x.xxx:0.0"

any ideas?

thanks
ashlesha.

Looks like your program needs X11 to be running. If you don't have X11 running on your local box, then:

1. Install an X server on a different box, let's call it "boxB".
2. Export the display on the linux box to "boxB".
3. Now, re-run make on the linux box.

Just to be sure... on that 192.168.x.xxx machine, did you remember to allow
the connections with
xhost +allowedhost
