can't read files from cd burned as root

for whatever reason, at home, i have to burn cds as root. i had this fixed at one time, but since then i've switched to another distro. anyway, now i'm at work. as a regular user, i can mount the cdrom and get a directory listing. the directories on the cd are 555 with owner/group root, but all the files inside are rwx with uid/gid 1000 (my regular user at home), so as myself at work (uid 1002), i can't read them.

i'm a little surprised that the iso9660 filesystem preserves permissions. i can circumvent this by mounting the cd as root and forcing uid/gid 1002, but shouldn't there be a non-root way to do it? (mount -o uid=1002,gid=1002 ... doesn't work)

thanks,
andrew

iso9660 doesn't carry any permissions on files.... all files on that FS are read-only by all.

Linux cd mounting executes the mount with the current permissions of the

However, I wonder if your fstab has some static entries on how your cddrive is mounted... setup by your distro.

Can you add the 'users' option to your cdrom mount line and check if there are any predefined uid or gid tags in your fstab... that will allow you to mount the drive with your permissions
