Can't change permissions on mounted partition

I'm logged in as root and can't change the permissions of /mnt/f. I can view the files but not write to the partition but i have no problems writing to d (vfat) or i (ntfs) Anyone know whats going on?

Code:
root@domain:/~# chmod 755 /mnt/f
chmod: changing permissions of `/mnt/f': Read-only file system

root@domain:/~# ls -l /mnt
dr-x------ 1 root root 8192 2004-09-21 17:36 c/

root@domain:~# dmesg | grep NTFS
NTFS driver v1.1.22 [Flags: R/O MODULE]
NTFS: Warning! NTFS volume version is Win2k+: Mounting read-only
I'm hoping once that is fixed it will also fix this problem:

Code:
root@domain:~# mount -o ro,loop,nodev,noexec /mnt/f/honeypot.hda5.dd /challenge/usr
ioctl: LOOP_SET_FD: Invalid argument
root@domain:~#

I had this problem a few days ago. Since I'm not an expert on this, I'll just refer you to some relevant threads.
I think you might find your answer in one of these places:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...tfs+permission
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...tfs+permission

There's a lot of good stuff in there. HTH
