Well I have been looking for a good web browser for linux and so far my favorite is Opera with KDE's web browser coming in second. I would like to hear what everyone else thinks.
so what is your favorite browser.
note: I shouldn't say this in a Linux Forum but IE is my overall favorite, to bad they don't support linux.
If I remember correctly, Netscape 6.0 works in Linux as well, which is really nice, I hear, I do not use it, that Netscape 6.0 has a better version of AIM as well for LInux.
I use Gaim, myself, and I stick with Conqueror. Conq is great, I really like it.
I don't like IE due to its tendancy to bring down the entire system upon one of its frequent crashes.
hmm... I use IE ALOT and it crashes very seldom.. If it does Win2k wil just shut it down for you and open a new IE window for your preasure
I chose IE cause the look and feel of it is the best I've seen....
Maybe some day if I hear an argument that it usefull in any way to me I'd consider using another 1. But that hasn't happen yet..
Same thing goes for Windows vs Linux
Linux on my server makes sense. Linux on my desktop does not..
Opera has my vote! Much faster than NS 6.1 and NO plugin issues!!! More stable than IE and was a whopping 2 meg download. Lightweight and very fast fully standards compliant.
well for one.. i like to do web design and the problem with IE is that it doesn't follow all the rules for the WC3 compliant.
microsoft is trying to corner the market in the web with design techniques that aren't approved by the WC3 people and other web browsers go by these rules.... so look at the web thru netscape or mozilla... anything besides IE and that is how the web is suppose to look....
there are so many sites that can only be seen thru IE because microsoft breaks all the rules and gets away with it most of the time... luckily most designers do design a cross browser compatiblity page for sites.. but why should we have to do that.. if they all went by the rules.. we wouldn't have to worry about that would we....
oh well, that is one of the reasons i don't use IE, even though i still make it so web pages are viewed properly thru it.
i don't have any complaints though besides that, it is fairly stable though when using... its just the concept behind it though i feel.
no wars please... this is the reason i don't like IE... but have to deal with it cause it is used by 60% or more of web browsers though... but the only reason that is, is this... think about it... 90% of the home pc and desktop world uses Microsoft OS which in turn comes free with IE, so most people think, why should i waste time downloading another browser, when the one here already installed works for me.... ?????

And if you include the Google toolbar to IE.....OWNAGE! lol
KDE has google intergrated. If you open up a CLI with <Alt>+<F2> and type "gg:*"<Enter> you get the results in Konq. The same also works for RPMfind.net using "rf:*" Have a look at "Enhanced browsing" in the KDE control center.
