.bash_profile not executing

Hello all. I was wondering why every time I log in my .bash_profile
wasn't being executed. I did notice that this when I issued a set command

SHELL=/bin/ash

How do I change my shell to automatically go into a bash
session not ? I hope I am on the right track.
Thanks !

not quite english, but i guess i understand... basically just use chsh to CHange your SHell to bash. check it's changed by looking at /etc/passwd under your user entry. naturally if you have changed to ash for whatever reason, bash profiles wil not be used.

a way around that is to use a .profile file...that file will be read by _most_ sh clones. (bash, ash, zsh, csh, tcsh, etc)
