, i wanted to know which shell is better bash or tcsh. i am looking for more power and control. i want to know the advantages of both.

from what I've seen, there really isn't much difference in power between modern shells. the good features that people want end up in both tcsh and bash. there are differences in how things like scripting are done, but its more syntax than capability. it might be easier to base your decision on what people you know use or on what books you can find so that finding help is easy.

Try them both out, that is the ultimate way to decide for yourself on which one you'll prefer.

I like vanilla ice cream and my girlfriend likes chocolate.. we both tried each to determine that, not letting the other decide for me.
