argh!!!missing files after konqueror transfer crash

oh i hope someone can help me, cause im about to lose my mind....and potentially my computer, because this might be the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back, and my computer might be going for a skydive off the balcony!!!!!

i was in the middle of moving about 14GB of music folders from one partition of my external hd to another when i foolishly started doing something else via konqueror that must have overloaded it???konqueror crashed(not the first time it has done so...actually has done so a few times)...thinking i could just select the folders again and move them to the same location, thus completeing the transfer, i did so....but now i am finding out that about 6 gb of files are missing!!!!!!!!the folders are there, but when i clik on them there are no mp3 files in them....

my thinking is that they have to be somewhere right????could they just disappear into thin air like that???

i guess in the future it may be better practice to copy and then delete files rather than move?!
so, i have learned my lesson, but i really want to find that music cause it was some of my best albums, and i didnt have all of them backt up....

please oh linux gurus, can someone prove to be my hero and sort me out

thanks

aw

oh yah, i am running suse 9.3 with kde 3.4

You could try a
find / -iname "*mp3" |egrep -v"(known_location1|known_location2|...)"
to see whether they are somewhere indeed.

And that said: I'd *never* use GUI tools for file-manipulations ;)

Cheers,
Tink
