Anyone have any success with extended attributes?

I can't seem to get them working even after installing xattr.

I'm working on Ubuntu 10.10 and Debian 6.

Thanks,
WT

Hi,

you will have to provide more information than just 'it is not working'.

1) What have you tried to make it working so far?
2) What is not working as you expect it to?
3) What error messages do you get?
4) Which filesystem are you using?
5) Does the kernel have the corresponding flag set to support xattr?

Thanks for your response. I just got this going a couple days ago.

Here's the deal:

Make sure your kernel supports it (compiled with the appropriate options)
mount your filesystem with the xattr parameter
python-pyxattr is junk (too many script errors), use getfattr, setfattr in the attr package (Ubuntu)

Thanks,
WT
