Question amsn does not work with my fedora

Hi there

I am a newbie .......

I have installed the fedora core (4 I think)

I have installed amsn for fedora core4, it was an easy task, almost automatic.

If I start aMSN (Applications->Internet->aMSN) a program appears on the taskbar saying "Starting aMSN" but after a few seconds it dissapears without ever starting aMSN

Q1. Does anyone have any clue what might be wrong?

Q2. is there any command telling you what linux version you have on your system?

Thanks

Raymond

type
Code:
amsn
into a terminal (xterm, eterm, konsole, gnome terminal, whatever) you should get some useful output as to what is occuring.

As for the release, if you get the standard kernels try
Code:
uname -a
that'll give you the kernel number (which normally includes fcx somewhere.

or you can look in /etc/ for a file called release or redhat-release or something similar

Here is the errormessage in a console

[root@localhost ~]# amsn
/usr/bin/amsn: line 3: exec: wish: not found

Does this tell you something?

[root@localhost ~]# uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 #1 Tue Mar 14 15:48:33 EST 2006 i6 86 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@localhost ~]#

Do I have fedora core 5? If so can that be the reason that amsn does not work?

Raymond
