Adding startup services and receiving graphical feedback

Hi guys, I have a question for you. I added a couple of services via 'chkconfig' and they work fine. However, I would like to see a message on start up that starts the service and displays the status, such as [OK] or [FAILED]. It seems that these messages are generated for services that I start on boot, but it does not happen for the services that I have added via 'chkconfig.' Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to LQ.

I'm assuming this is with RedHat?

You need to use the functions script which imports a function for stopping and starting services. If you look at an existing script then you should see what I mean. If not then just post a copy of your script.
