no.. it's a RAID controller.

I'm trying to install a server, but since I got it 3 days ago I haven't even been starting installing anything because the RAID controllers they've given me have all been incompatible with Linux..
It's starting to annoy me that I have to run back and forth between home and the store..

My ABIT BX133-RAID board works fine, but I can't use the RAID functionality. The HPT370 module was included with the Gentus linux distro that came with the MOBO, but it would not support the hardware RAID.

I'm running that rig with SuSE 7.2 now.

I see. The one thing I could suggest is checking the compat list for your distro of Linux to verify compatibility. The other thing would be to run the latest kernel version that you can, as there may be fixes implemented for your controller, etc.
I had a friend complaining to me about his working under linux, but don't remember the details. Still, being a primarily server OS, I would assume compat. Then again, assuming gets me in a lot of messes.

Assuming is dangerous
Well..I've pulled it out and it's back to the store again (no support)..
geeee... now I remember why I never installed Linux on my desktop
Well.. that and the command line and config file work...lol
Guess I'm too lazy for Linux.. But I have to use it *sigh*

Once you get it running Linux is fine.. but getting to that is da mother of all pains....hehe

true dat'. acutally, I've not had a problem in it for such a long time, that almost seems wrong. Then again, I don't have a RAID setup.
