2.6.8-gentoo-r3 Kernel Sata Problem

instead of wasting a bunch of space here i thought I would just post a link to my query http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.p...578389#1578389

I just cannot figure out what's wrong, am I doing something wrong or is it a bug in the kernel or something? if it is a bug do you know what other information I will need to provide to submit a bug? Thanks, it's really getting on my nerves, I was so psyched to get it going and then it does not boot and I do not see anything wrong, very dissappointing. please help. nobody seems to know.

*edit: It looks like at least one other person is having what looks like a similar problem http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3352 I am going to try to figure out how to emerge like the 2.6.5 kernel or something and see if it works, if it does then it is a bug in the kernel.
