[SOLVED] X Error of failed request: BadValue

OK, I had an error when trying to run Steam. I ran the command on a graphical terminal and I got the error:

"X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)".

I had been looking on line every day for about a week, to no avail. I then read a response to my, and many other people's, problem.

OK. I am currently running Debian Stable distribution (called Jessie), and I run an AMD 8-core processor (I have been using AMD processors since 1997) and an Nvidia graphics card (GeForce GTX 650) ((I have been using Nvidia graphics cards since it was bought by 3DFX)).

Anyway...

It seems that my Nvidia driver was old or something like that, and since I use Nvidia-DKMS, rather than downloading the drivers from Nvidia.com, I installed the package from Sid (also known as unstable), did a reboot, and I have just got done playing on steam for about 2 hours.

I would guess if you download the latest Nvidia driver, it will/may probably work. And maybe if you use another graphics card, you may need to update/upgrade your drivers. Or, you could always install the unstable nvidia-dkms package and give it a try.

Have a good day, people!
