$49?

Ive got a couple of questions, at the moment im compiling a report of Network Operating Systems. Can sum1 tell me what the latest version of Redhat and Suse server software is? Ive tried searching the internet, all i seem to get is soo many different versions. As im comparing to Windows 2000 and Novell NetWare 6 i need the basic server versions.

Also i read that linux server versions can be purchased for around $49, however when i search i find soo many different server versions and the price seems to be alot more. Is this approximate figure of $49 from sum yearz ago? or is this price still the case?

Need help would be very much appreciated!!

Server version is from $0 (if you decide to download it yourself). Standard version of a disto works also as a server. The boxed versions (more expansive) have support, printed documentation and so on. The software is usually the same. In server versions there may be third party software added (commercial). Such versions are usually more than $49.

If you're looking for a really basic version, it's price is $0.

it totally depends on what you need, do you need a OS with a server in it? or do you need a server with a OS build for it? because that's basicly where it comes too.

From their ftp sites. For example, RedHat's: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/iso/i386/ (it's a location of RedHat ISO images for RH9.0). It's the ame with other distros. And there's more than one site per distro (the missor list can be found on the websites).

Pricing
RedHat http://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/purchase/
SuSE http://www.suse.com/us/business/prod...rd/prices.html (Standard Server) and http://www.suse.com/us/business/prod...es/prices.html (Enterprise)
