As far as I knew the Sims doesn't work with any Wines or Cedega. Can anybody confirm this?

I guess you're right:

TransGaming's fully optimized Linux version of Maxis' hit title works perfectly. Packaged Windows version will *not* work well with standard WineX due to lack of optimizations
from here!!!

I spent a little time today, and figured out a fairly easy way to get the Sims to work. If you can install it on a Windows computer you can copy over almost every file it creates to your Cedega windows drive. It works after that with Cedega. I have not tested it extensively, but I have loaded and saved games and played it a bit. There are bugs, but I haven't seen anything showstopping yet. Yet is the key word though.

Forgot to mention, I used a No-CD cracked exe to help it along, since Winex has always had issues with CDs.

They say that The Sims doesn't run under Cedega, but I installed it just fine. I have no windows partition, I just ran setup.exe or whatever it's called and pointed it to install to a fake C drive. I even installed the hot date expansion by using Unshield to extract from the install shield .cab files to the sims directory. The only issues are that there are slight graphical glitches every now and again, and also it ocassionally just crashes (it appears to be random). I just took up the habit of saving often and it's fine. It's not like it crashes every few minutes...sometime I could be playing it for hours without a single crash.

Transgaming just wants you to think that you can't install/play the game so that you will buy their ported version
