SDL_mixer gate88

Hi,
I am trying to run gate88.
I was able to run it once then I had to close down my computer in a hurry, error messages appeared but I didn't have time to read then I just clicked the continue type buttons. Now when I try to run the executable it returns the error message

./gate88: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have found some rpms and tryed to install them but it returns:

These packages are already installed.

then if I try to run a shell script also supposed to run it on computers without the sdl libraries it says:

ERROR: Could not initialize sdl_mixer.

I know I have installed the sdl_mixer.
So I looked through the help files and found a way to run without sound by adding a dash and nosound at the end of ./rungate88.sh
this still returns the same error message.
Thanks in advance
Tom
