Do you have a default.cfg? Does it have the correct permissions? The file is usually in /home/name/.doom3-demo/ if you're running the demo.

why would it be in ../doom3-demo if the name of the game is quake3 Point release ?

But no i dont see one ... do I have to create it ? Shouldn't it be created via installation ??

Oh snap! My bad I always get them confused. Doom3/Quake3 same thing...not! Anyway, it would be in /home/user/.quake3 or something similiar. In folder options or preferences whatever it is, turn on hidden folders and files so you can see it in your browser. If I was in linux I could tell you exactly...Yeah I just created the file in gedit and saved it in there. That way it will be there when quake asks for it. No need to put any info in the file, just make a file called default.cfg and save it there. Once quake gets running it will put its own info in the file. Oh that reminds me, make sure the file has correct permissions when you make it. Otherwise, of course, quake won't be able to open/write to the file.
