NWMovies and BinkPlayer -- help!

Neverwinter Nights actually runs fine, but one day while I was loitering around http://packages.gentoo.org, I noticed that there was an ebuild for the Bink Player. It installed fine, and it does play the *.bik movies in the /nwn/movies directory, standalone.

NWMovies is now said to be 100% BinkPlayer compatible, and it does start up without errors when I start the ./nwn script... but after it gives its initialization output, it does not play any movies, and the NWN window closes, also without error.

Thinking that the problem might be BinkPlayer, I tried to use nwnbink2ogm to re-encode the movies to mPlayer format, but that has been a nightmare, as I have no idea how to encode movies and clearly a setting somewhere is wrong, as mencoder fails as soon as it tries to encode the frames pulled by RADTools back into a movie. And since it takes 3 hours for RADTools to pull the frames from just the Intro movie, there's only so many times I'm going to retry that without knowing what's wrong.

So, back to BinkPlayer, which does not require me to re-encode the movies.

Does anyone have the in-game movies playing in-game with BinkPlayer? Or even with mPlayer?

I could very much use some advice on this. Thanks in advance.
