NFSU won't install

Hello evrybody!

When I try to install my NFSU (1) it says a dll is not there
I just open autorun.exe in cedega (4.3.1.) or wine, with both I get the error:
"Cannot find required DLL 'D:\AutoRunGUI.DLL'"
(In wine the station is "Y")
but when I look, I just see the dll.
Weird, huh?
I also tried to install it by opening "setup.exe" when I do that, nothing happens...

Am I the only 1 with this problem?
Could someone help me, please?

Greetingz, SimeonV

Make sure you mount the cd from a command line as root and see if that makes running setup work or not.

Find and runt the setup file instead. WINE has issues with autorun.

So you mounted the drive as root (device and mount point obviously change to suit your system):

jeremy@70-32-144-91:~> su
Password:
70-32-144-91:/home/jeremy # mount /dev/hdd /media/dvd
mount: block device /dev/hdd is write-protected, mounting read-only

Then in a new konsole change directories to the cd:

jeremy@70-32-144-91:~> cd /media/dvd
jeremy@70-32-144-91:/media/dvd>

Then run the program:

jeremy@70-32-144-91:/media/dvd> cedega setup.exe

If this doesn't work for you, then I'm not quite sure what to try. Maybe use the WineCVS script and download dx9wine to try...?

I tried it exactly how you told me to, now I get further than before
But now, when I use to see a File copying screen, I get a white screen, which I can't close

So I thought maybe it is copying, but not showing to
So I checked my Transgaming Drive, but there isn't any folder called "NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND" orso
And I have the same amount of free disc space as before:s
What now?

edit your config and check to make sure that you have an entry like this:

;; Need for Speed Underground
[AppDefaults\\Speed.exe\\d3dgl]
"PixelShaders" = "N"

make sure that speed.exe is the correct exe file for you need for speed installation

Also add this to your registry file (system.reg):

[Software\\EA GAMES\\NFS Underground] 1116812384
"3D Card"=""
"3D Device Description"=""
"CacheSize"="1352354816"
"CD Drive"=""
"D3D Device"=dword:00000000
"DisplayName"="NFS Underground"
"Hardware Acceleration"=dword:00000001
"Install Dir"="C:\\Program Files\\EA GAMES\\Need For Speed Underground"
"Language"="english"
"Region"="region_us"
"Registration"="software\\Electronic Arts\\EA GAMES\\NFS Underground\\ergc"
"Suppression Exe"=""
"SwapSize"="0"
"Thrash Driver"=""
"Thrash Resolution"="800x600"
"Triple Buffer"=dword:00000000

NOTE: Replace the installation directory as needed. The region can be changed if needed too, but I'm not sure what the other ones are off the top of my head.

O I'm sorry, I guess I didn't search very well, cos I've found system.reg
But won't I have to copy some files or what?
If the game isn't installed I can't do anything with some registry-values

Sorry I forgot you were having trouble with the installer and not even running the game yet...

Go here to get the microsoft font installer rpm:

http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~fcar...downloads.html

Install that and try again. Let me know if that works or not. If it doesn't I recommend going here:

http://liflg.org/?catid=7&gameid=39

Download the US installer. Make sure you change the file properties to make it executable and see if you can install with that. I don't actually have a retail version of NFSU, I have only installed the demo, but we should still be able to walk through and get this working.

Let me know how that works out and we'll go from there.
