Hi, I am wondeing where I can find some really good Linux games (besides Cube). Are there any RTS games as professional-looking as Age Of Empires or Sim City 4?
It really depends what sort of games you like. I'm not a big RTS fan, so I can't help you there, but theres a list of commercial linux games here . Personally, I can't wait until doom 3 comes out
And also take a look at www.transgaming.com
I'm using WineX a lot to play Diablo 2. And that works really great.
GTA3 freezes sometimes, but that's somethng to do with my setup...
(running it from the windows installation worked as a dream, the one from P2P crashes)
Anyway, Transgaming has a huge list of games that works under Linux.
After searching for a long while I have discovered a wonderful game not known to many. It is both educative, and fun, even more fun than the most fun game. It is called "Who's going to read the most man pages?".
It is like who "wants to be a millionaire" under linux, you should try it
one great game if you're into FPS is UT2K3 and the coming Unreal Tournament 2004, that will install and run under Linux even if it don't say so on the box.
and Savage, Battle for New Earth..
Good games..
+ Enemy Territory, Return to Wolfenstein,
So far i've not seen it, since i haven't seen the box yet.
Atari claimed the same for UT2K3, for then to blame it on God and everyone else.
Time will show
But i really hope thet they put it on the box, in the manual and fikses the installer so that it
a) don't serch for the damned /dev/fd0 (wich i don't have)
b) names the cd's so that you don't have to guess what cd to put in.
and C) Makes sure that there's docs on the cd's explaining how to install it.
There's been so many without a clue how to do that around.
Makes me wonder if i'm one of the few that actually takes a look at what's on the cd's that comes with a game that i've paid money for. Like all the goodies they laid on cd 3?
Maya PE, U-Paint, that Karma thing and more.
spuzzzzzzz
They don't dare to release UT2k4 without Linux support.
Atari got enough complaints from the linux users when they "forgot" to tell that UR2k3 came with Linux support to pull that stunt again.
I think it was the vice-P of either Atari or Epic that said that there would be a "great" label on teh box stating that this game runs under Linux.
LavaDevil94
I hope so too.. It's time that Linux appears on more boxed games
I still got friends that claim that the only reason that they have windows is that there's no games for Linux.
Poiting them towards winex gives most of them a shock.
*grins* I love to shock people sometimes...
