He's refering to NWN 2, the sequel of NWN,... the thread you refered to only deals with the original NWN. Right now, there is no telling whether NWN 2 will be released for Linux. The new developer is not letting that cat out of the bag yet,... for fear that they will cause the same uproar that happened when NWN was released without Linux support for nearly 6 mos.
After they released linux binaries for nwn they recieved quite alot of praise. I think they will make nwn linux compatible, maybe not out of the box. But still.
Oh sorry about that... I've never played either one. I'm guessing its an RPG like WoW ? Isn't it a few years old? I could probably pick it up at Walmart for like $20 now right?
I'm up for any game that works on Linux... Even if I never played it I'd still buy it if Linux was supported.

Neverwinter Nights is available in a Platinum pack which includes the original NWN and the Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of Undark (excuse me if I've mispelled the titles) expansion packs. Alternatively, you can find it in a Gold edition (which includes Shadows) and just pick up Hordes seperately.
You can download the Linux installer from the NWN downloads section of BioWare's website, or you can get the installers made by Ravage at his website:
Neverwinter Nights 2 has not been 100% guaranteed to be available for Linux yet. I think there is an extremely strong chance that NWN2 and possibly BioWare's upcoming Dragon Age will be released for Linux. Knights of the Old Republic, a Star Wars game, was based on the NWN engine but it was NOT ported because of an exclusive deal with Micro$haft to release it on eXbox and PC Windoze only... It depends on the publisher of Dragon Age (they don't have one yet) as to whether it will be available as a Linux port. Dragon Age will be a D&D-type RPG, but based entirely on BioWare's own new gaming system and game engine...

The great thing I liked about NWN was that you didn't have to pay monthly fees to play the game like Everquest or WoW. I hope they keep that in NWN 2! If they don't charge monthly, then I'd buy it for the sake of trying it out in Linux.
Thats my biggest thing about RPG games... Month = no go for me... I went to Walmart and Circut City to find NVN but couldn't find it....lol not to mention I asked the guy if they had UT2004 with DVD copy so I could get the Linux install. I said, "Do you have the DVD native of UT2004" and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about...lol...so then I asked if they had the DVD copy for Windows XP...of course he got it then!

Retail clods often do not know what end of a mouse gets plugged it, let alone about the option to run anything other than Windoze on your computer...
I still marvel at the quizical look on peoples' faces when I mention that I run Linux on my main systems. I also marvel at all the people buying books with titles like, "Maximizing Windows XP," or "Tricks and Tips for Getting the Most out of Microsoft Office." You don't see a single book on OpenOffice.org. Shame, considering for the price of a book on M$ Office, you could get a book on OpenOffice.org AND the program itself... I'm also shocked that you don't see copies of Fedora Core in the discount software rack of most retailers like WalMart or BestBuy...
Some people will never learn. They will continue using buggy and virus ridden software until M$ goes to selling hardware.
These are the same people who will be renting their software from M$ in a couple of years.
We'll see then who knows about Linux in the retail space...

What I am saying is not to try and bother asking retail clerks if the title you are looking for is supported as a Linux native. They won't know.
You need to do a little research before you go to the store. Most of the time, there will be advance news on the developer's website as to release of Linux clients (if there are any).
For NWN2, or BioWare's upcoming Dragon Age, there are not going to be any announcements until they know for sure that it's definitely going to be released. They were "burned" last time announcing a simultaneous Linux/Windoze release for the orignal NWN,... after the deadline slipped,... and so won't make that mistake again.
well i have been looking around a little bit and noticed that there were threads on the bioware site about linux and nwn 2, mostly what is happening is people keep posting about linux related stuff and the mods keep yelling at them to stop posting there since bioware isnt the one who decides what is ported to the platforms. after reading through a few of these threads it looks like a poster created another thread at the atari site(the publisher of the game) and it looks like people are requesting support for linux there. link to bioware site and here is a link to the atari thread here
