I, as noob, can't find out how to install Tibia on my linux laptop.
I can extrat it and then a subdirectory tibia was made but then what? It just won't work.
well what was extracted ?
is there a README or INSTALL file that you can read ?
is there an executable just to launch it right away ?
is there a configure script ?
what did you try if anything, and if anything what errors are you
receiving ?
There is an executable but i can click it and nothing will happen. No readme's, no install file. 11 files. One executable that won't work, a disclamer, some pics and a .datfile and a .tcl file. Maybe it just isn't possible? (www. tibia.com)
bash-2.05b$ ./tibia
./tibiawish: error while loading shared libraries: libtcl8.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
bash-2.05b$
I've installed tcl/tk 8.3, so it should work. Somehow I have to tell "tibia" where it's installed, but i have no idea how ;p
Try chmod +x tibia, to make it executable. Also make sure that you have read permision for all the files in the directory. Also you don't have to install tcl/tk 8.3, you can use a newer version just make links to the newer version and name them 8.3.
The older client (Linux client) kinda sucks in my opion. I got the Windows client to work using WINE, but only get 10 fps and can't use light effects.
The new Linux distributions comes with tc/tk8.4. You will need to download the old version, tc/tk8.3, cause Tibia developers r not going to update Linux Tibia versions anymore, unfortunally. As root, after downloading and installing ( there are many different ways to install, according to your distribution ), you are going to look for libtk8.3.so.1 in /usr/lib and rename it to libtk8.3.so ( cp libtk8.3.so.1 libtk8.3.so ), the same to libtcl8.3.so.1 ( cp libtcl8.3.so.1 libtcl8.3.so ).
Then, go to the folder where u discompressed tibia and run ./tibiawish ... It may work... I hope!
or you can create a symbolic link that makes it look into the new version when its looking for the old version.. I had to do this to get Phobia3 to work, because it complained about having to have that specific old version
here's what i had to do:
Code:
cd /usr/lib
ln -s libvorbisfile.so.3.1.0 libvorbisfile.so.0
so, i guess you would also need to change to your usr/lib directory and do the same, except substitue the files that you are linking to instead of libvorbisfile.
