How do you compile kobo deluxe?

I am trying to get the latest version of kobo deluxe as an old one is all that is in the repos. However it came with no instructions on how to build it and the traditional make command is not working. I get this error message: : *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. Also the install scripts that came with the source do not work. Can anybody help me with this? I am running Ubuntu 6.10. If you need any other info from me please let me know.

*EDIT* This problem is now solved.

The install script (configure) works fine. Did you do ./configure?

I did but it did not work the first time. After I shutdown last night and tried again this morning, it worked fine. Thanks for your help.
