help installing tinyfugue (or other MUD client) with SUSE10.0

Under WinXP I used zMUD as my MUD client, but now that I've moved to Linux I need to get a new one.

Years ago (when no one knew what the internet was) I used to use Tinyfugue on the college in town's unix/linux system and was hoping to use it again. But the instructions on installation aren't newbie friendly. Or if they are I'm too dumb for them.

I've tried all the commands listed (and then some). I've also tried installing from the GUI clicking on the files in true Windows style.

If anyone can help or offer some insight on another MUD client that would be a good replacement for zMUD that would be great.

I'm currently just getting into the whole MUD business, so I'm not a fountain of knowledge here. I also don't know ZMUD, so I have no basis for comparison.

But! I just installed TinyFugue 5.0b7 on my system. Wasn't much of a problem. I don't know what instructions and listed commands you're talking about. Did you try to install a package or compile yourself?

I'd recommend the latter, although I've heard Suse can be a pain in this respect. I'm using Slack 10.2, and standard procedure worked nicely for me:
Code:
./configure
make
make install
Oh, if you're gonna make a package: tf doesn't seem to honour DESTDIR.

If you're looking for other Clients, I recently looked at a few.

KMud (www.kmud.de):
Is said to work (have worked?) well, I didn't get it to compile on my system, since the code expects KDE 1 libraries to be present. Didn't check out the binary.

GMoo (www.gmoo.net):
Based on GTK1. Seems clean and simple, probably good for a beginner like me, not for a more advanced player, which I guess you are, having used a prog like tf in times so long ago.

KMuddy (www.kmuddy.net):
What I use currently. Seems to be a simple and functional (modern) KDE app.

Hope this helps somewhat. Good luck.
