Unhappy EPSXE annoying read ioctl failed while game running

Hi everybody,

I've installed epsxe whith Pete Mesa GPU plugin.
I use my dvdrom (/dev/hdd) as te cdrom.

My computer is a 3.OOGhz PIV, 1024 Megs Ram and a GeForce 128 Mbits .

Everything is fine except that nearly every second I got a read ioctl error from my cdrom freezing the game a bit (for 1 sec) leading to a really bad game play... (sorry I can't post the exact error, I'm not home at the moment)

I've tryed to configure my GPU with the less cpu time consuming options... but doesn't seem to help.
I tried to make an iso from the cd to test if it was due to cd access but whithout any success, cdread makes an error ...

Thanks for any help,

Pierre

the problem is unrelated to the GPU, the problem is because the drive cannot read the CD fast enough for the game. The CDROM drive might be at fault and is going bad.

Thx Tux, You were right ,
When I change for my cdburner and everything went find ..
This is strange because the dvdrom plays dvd without any noticeable problem,
I red that PSX cdrom speed was only 2x .
Think my dvd is much more...
Well it works fine now
Thanks again
Pierre
