Attempting HORI Digital Pads for NES emulation
Hello All -
I have purchased 2 HORI Digital Pads and 2 Trio Linkers.
HORI = gamecube controller
Trio Linker = GameCube to USB adapter (so you can use a gamecube controller on your PC)
The HORI Digital Pads would be a perfect solution for playing SNES and NES ROMS, because of the design of the controller. (Which looks like a SNES Controlller).
I'm trying to setup and play some NES roms on my Linux box (Debian Unstable).
I've installed a NES Emulator FCEU-SDL using:
apt-get update
apt-get install fceu-sdl
It installed correctly, and works (with the keyboard).
But when trying to use the HORI Digital PADs, in the configuration section (before you start the ROM), for Joypads....
It says to press a button for the X axis.
I press the button on the HORI Digital Pads, but nothing happens.
I can't configure them.
To make sure FCEULtra worked with a USB gamepad, I turned off the computer. Pluged in my Gravis USB Gamepad and loaded it and it worked.
To make sure the HORI Digital Pads actualy work, I installed ZSNES.
Loaded ZSNES and went to the input configuration section.
Pressed my buttons on the hori (for UP, DOWN, LEFt, RIGHT) and it worked.
I was able to play SNES Roms, using ZSNES, and have a fully configured HORI Digital PAD.
Futhermore, To make sure both HORI Digital Pads are sending a siginal.
I did:
jstest /dev/js0
and
jstest /dev/js1
Both of them worked ,and I saw responses as i pushed the D-Pad buttons.
Do you guys know a NES emulator (for linux) that supports the HORI controllers?
Or have a suggestion of a NES Emulator that works or atleast is able to configure the D-Pad for the HORI Pads?
I've tried other NES emulators, but i have failed.
This might be a wild guess, but perhaps "FCE Ultra" doesn't support Digital Pad (Up, down, left, right)?
Maybe the Gravas Gamepad which has a D-Pad was actualy 'analog input'?
Any insight would be great!
Thanks.
