I did. Xnest didn't work properly. If I logged in as root in a nested window and opened two apps, I couldn't bring the one that was behind to the front. So I went back to XFree86-4.4.0 as it works perfectly. It could be that I did something wrong, it was the first time I'd installed xorg, so your results may be better.
I installed X11R6.8.1 the other day, using the exact same commands as in the BLFS book for 6.7.0 (NOTE: the BLFS book now uses 6.8.1).. It installed perfectly fine.
Andrew: Xorg does that, in order to get a window from behind to come in front you have to move it a tiny bit.
