make: *** ld: No such file or directory. Stop.

Hi folks,

I made another round deleting '/source/glibc-build' and '/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701'.

Re-did
6.11. Glibc-2.3.4-20040701
http://www.sg.linuxfromscratch.org/l...r06/glibc.html

root:/sources/glibc-build# make check
with following errors
Code:
.......
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/sources/glibc-build/csu/tst-empty.out', needed by `tests'. Stop.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701/csu'
make[1]: *** [csu/tests] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701'
make: *** [check] Error 2
root:/sources/glibc-build# make install
with following errors
Code:
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `/sources/glibc-build/dlfcn/libdl.so.2', needed by `/sources/glibc-build/elf/sprof'.Stop.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701/elf'
make[1]: *** [elf/subdir_install] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701'
make: *** [install] Error 2
root:/sources/glibc-build# mkdir -p /usr/lib/locale
root:/sources/glibc-build# localedef -i de_DE -f ISO-8859-1 de_DE
Segmentation fault
root:/sources/glibc-build# localedef -i de_DE@euro -f ISO-8859-15 de_DE@euro
Segmentation fault

root:/sources/glibc-build# make localedata/install-locales
Went through without major problem;
Code:
.....
sid_ET.UTF-8...LC_ADDRESS: `lang_lib' value does not match `lang_term' value
 done
.....
make[2]: Leaving directory `/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701/localedata'
make[1]: Leaving directory `/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701'
Went through the rest parts until coming to
6.12. Re-adjusting the Toolchain
http://www.sg.linuxfromscratch.org/l...adjusting.html

root:/sources/glibc-build# make -C ld INSTALL=/tools/bin/install install
make: *** ld: No such file or directory. Stop.
root:/sources/glibc-build#

I tried changing the directory without result;
root:/sources/glibc-build# cd ../binutils-build/
root:/sources/binutils-build# make -C ld INSTALL=/tools/bin/install install
make: Entering directory `/sources/binutils-build/ld'
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

Please advise how to get through this difficulty.

TIA

B.R

From what I can tell you're talking about "Linux From Scratch - Version 6.0
Chapter 6. Installing Basic System Software
"

I would recommend copying right out of the book (starting over completely), or using nALFS to install LFS.

If none of thous work, your host system is messed up.

Hi shotokan,

Tks for your advice.

I already started over completely building LFS 6.1, this time, on the same FC3 host. But now encountering problem on chroot

6.2. Mounting Virtual Kernel File Systems
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/...06/kernfs.html

[root@localhost satimis]# /usr/sbin/chroot "$LFS" /tools/bin/env -i HOME=/root TERM="$TERM" PS1='\u:\w\$ ' PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/tools/bin /tools/bin/bash --login +h
Code:
/tools/bin/env: /tools/bin/bash: No such file or directory
I took Notes on each steps perfomed. Going through the said Notes against LFS 6.1 book no steps were found missed nor wrong.

I hesitate whether the problems coming from the FC3 Host because I found some documents on LFS website against it.

Whether your meant;

nALFS is the program from ALFS used in conjunction with a profile. Which is used to execute commands. Kinda like a scripts only you can pause it, and start it in any place.
