Locales, encoding and keyboard

Hi

I'm currently in BLFS and I have some questions about locales, encodings and keyboard setting. Basically I have a mess in this matter.

So, how can I:

1. see ALL console/GUI messages in english only, so new apps don't see other locales and don't install additional files.

2. have polish (pl) keyboard (I don't know where to set in globally for shell and X)

3. have polish encoding (some polish character in file's names). It is defined in ISO_8859-2, but I would like to use UTF-8 for system

4. get rid of (uninstall) unused locales from /usr/share/locale and /usr/share/i18n etc. They use a lot of disk space.

Of course word "polish" could be anything else, I want to know how it works and have more control over it.
