I would avoid CLFS. The project isn't as up-to-date as LFS. It's useful if you want a more complete system, but LFS is better suited.

So basically, if I want 64 bit then stay away from lfs altogether? I guess I'll go with Arch or Tinycore to run the hyper-visor.

No. Just use the main LFS book.

CLFS is different from LFS.

full agreed. and if you need both arch, do a 32bit AND a 64 bit LFS

I just need 64 bit, but I was under the impression LFS was 32 bit only.

I think LFS used to be limited to 32-bit for quite a long time, but nowadays it supports both the 64-bit and 32-bit architectures.
