How To Load iwlwifi Firmware?

iwlwifi driver has been enabled in the kernel, and the firmware placed in /lib/firmware

However, lspci -v shows that there is no driver loaded for my wifi card, an Intel Centrino 6205.

I've read every discussion on iwlwifi that I can find, to no avail. Please help if you can.

My LFS version is 7.6, Systemd.

I take it the driver in the kernel is correct
Intel Wireless WiFi Next Gen AGN - Wireless-N/Advanced-N/Ultimate-N (iwlwifi)

and firmware is
iwlwifi-6050-5.ucode

The firmware is actually iwlwifi-6000g2a-6.ucode. Could that be the problem?

I should point out that the /lib/firmware directory didn't exist. I had to create it manually.

It seems to me that the kernel has no knowledge of /lib/firmware. According to the README that came with the driver, I need to set up UDEV somehow, but the book doesn't mention this.

Hi,

Found these threads interesting: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1001638.html and http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1001638.html

I've given up and just compiled the driver into the kernel. I think you're right about this being a bug.
