help with cc ang gcc

help me please...

In LFS book

now i'm stuck with section 8.3 installation of the kernel (linux-2.6.11.12)
when i run this command

" make mrproper "

they said " gcc command not found"

and when i go back into sanity check in chapter 6
" echo 'main(){}' > dummy.c "
" cc dummy.c "

they also said that " cc command not found"

then i decided to re-compile gcc-3.4.3
and when i did that

i've got an error ...
" *** You must set the environment variable CC to working compiler. "

how should i do?

thanks in advance

ps. on the way to chapter 8 . everythings seems to be OK, it didn't said anything about my gcc/cc didn't work

hmm,, at the end of chapter 6 .........
did you follow anything in 6.61. Stripping Again???
Quote:
If disk space is very tight, the --strip-all option can be used on the binaries in /{,usr/}{bin,sbin} to gain several more megabytes. Do not use this option on libraries—they will be destroyed.
IF you did --strip-all on the libraries.......it hosed your new LFS system!!

Or could be an incomplete PATH. Do an "echo $PATH" and post the output.

It does sound like a path problem, yes. Maybe you left the system, chrooted back in and got the paths wrong? Post back here when you find out what it was.
