getaddrinfo failed (Name or service not known)

I get such error when i put btpd( torrent daemon that uses sockets) to my init scripts. I have no problem start it myself from shell but i want autoload.
Any suggestions, please?

getaddrinfo could fail if name resolution hasn't been started yet. Maybe you have put it too early? Are you running a local named? How are you starting btpd and what is the exact command line?

I put it in rcsysinit.d as S91script.
I start it just as
btpd;
What is local named?

I was wondering if you were running your own DNS (named) or just using your ISP to resolve names.
If you were running your own, you would have to start it before btpd.

For Debian, the script should be in /etc/init.d and run update-rc.d to create the links in the right directories, I believe.
The script needs to have start and stop arguments so that the different runlevels do the right things.
You can look at any of the other scripts in init.d to see how its done.
Your problem could be due to the missing link. Have a look at the
http://www.debian.org/doc/FAQ/ch-cus...tombootscripts FAQ.
