I am thinking of compiling a kernel from gentoo sources instead of directly from upstream. Has anyone tried this in a [B]LFS system? I cannot think of anything that would break or of anything that I would need to do differently ... but I thought it best check here with all of you before I try it.
Shouldn't break anything. As long as you install your kernel alongside your existing one (as opposed to replacing it), you should be fine. In the case it doesn't boot for some reason, you can easily boot back into your previous kernel.
