Unhappy error umounting LFS


hello,
i am just a step away from rebooting, but umount -v $LFS has caught me since a long time and am not able to find a solution for it. it says its busy. i am not able to chroot also now. can anyone please help me out, with detailed steps to help me out.

Hi

Just make sure no users are in /mnt/lfs root or lfs, thats normally the cause when it reports busy

version-check: command not found
thats the output for version-check

and when i umount -v $LFS now, i get
Usage: umount -h | -V
umount -a [-d] [-f] [-r] [-n] [-v] [-t vfstypes] [-O opts]
umount [-d] [-f] [-r] [-n] [-v] special | node...

I would just umount the partition you used /dev/sdXX what ever it is

in case i umount it..how do i check whether ive successfully umounted it.

Hi

The command mount will show what is mounted and where.

It will also fail to unmount if you have mounted dev, proc and sys from the host to the chroot, you must unmount them before it will unmount

First, I think you mistook spiky's signature as a request of you. Secondly, if you've made it this far building the LFS system, then your host system is probably okay. Anyway, version-check is a script found in section vii of the preface of the book (in case you were wondering).

I second Keith's idea about the virtual filesystems still being mounted. Section 9.3 gives the commands for backing out of chroot and unmounting $LFS.

hello,

i used the umount -l and everything went well. now it boots, and i forgot my password to login. Having a tough time
