Continuing w/o Fixing PTY Problem

All I have is until Monday to finish my LFS and I can't afford to do it all over again.
I get a "no more ptys" message when running the expect command in chapter 6.11 of LFS 6.2..
A note there also said not to skip the "make check" no matter what.
I searched this forum and other linux forums as well for answers but they are all dated years back. I tried the LFS.org FAQ about the ptys but I don't have the .config file so I ask for support from people who are also using the same distribution as me. No one has yet replied.

Without fixing the pty problem, I decided to continue on with the chapter. I "make check" even without ptys and executed the rest of the commands in that chapter.

In 6.12 where a sanity check was performed, I got all the outputs correct.
The result of echo 'main(){}' > dummy.c , grep -o , grep 'SEARCH , grep "/lib/ , grep found
were all correct.

Will this be a big problem sooner or later? Or is it ok as long as I make sure that I make no mistakes in following the book?
What might be the consequence of continuing w/o fixing the pty problem?

I don't know what else to do. I'm running out of time.

You might be able to get away with this, but I wouldn't count on it. pty's are used in various places. If you have none, or run out easily, this might be a problem. Maybe there are plenty of them but there's something wrong with your installation.

I'd be curious to know why the book says not to skip the "make check" no matter what. It sounds like something that used to not be in the book, but was put in there because many people had a common problem, and you have (or could have) that problem. I could also be full of baloney, but think about this.

The importance of the warning to run "make check" no matter what might be gauged from the surrounding context in the book. Is the book online?

If you can't afford to reinstall the system, you might be in a bit of an impossible situation. Or I could be wrong.

Hope this helps a little.

So, you don't read you book correctly and don't even read the replies to your questions ... Then feel free NOT to post, so we won't be losing our time ...

If it's not already the case, and as you're running out of time, you should use LFS LiveCD, as it's just taillored for this purpose ... Your host system will have everything just fine and it might save you a lot of trouble (and thus a lot of time) ...

Don't worry too much : LFS in a weekend is feasible (done it on a old machine : BTU around 10-15 minutes)

(and sorry for bad mood, but recognize it's a little frustrating not to be read when answering a question ...)

I read your reply actually. In that post up there ^^^ I said i tried that LFS.org FAQ about pty. The one with the .config file issue.

I'm not obligating anyone to reply so feel free not to.
No time wasted. As simple as that.
