command not found

When I tried to create the cvs snapshot for glibc as specified in the packagees download section of the lfs handbook, bash gave me this error:

bash:cvs:command not found

This leads me to believe that my current distro lacks the software needed to make cvs files.

Am I right? Do I need to build the cvs software on my current distro?

thanks

Hi,

You are probably correct in stating that cvs is not installed, although it also could be that the user trying to execute the command does not have the proper permissions.

Try searching your box for cvs first:

locate cvs | grep bin

Or, if locate isn't installed.

find / -name "*cvs*" -print (may take a while.......).

If either comes up with nothing: You need to install cvs.
I just took a look at the packages that come with Vector Linux SOHO 5.0: It's part of this distro (cvs-1.11.19-i586-4vl5.tgz).

Hope this helps.
