Can I use x86_64 as a host to build an LFS?

According to the LFS book, I need x86 system to build LSF? Can I use x86_64 system as a host? I boot 95% of the on the 64-bit system.

You may want to look at the Cross LFS book (http://trac.cross-lfs.org/), which gives instructions for compiling LFS onto different architectures.

I just want to learn something about lfs. Is clfs much more involved? Now I use x86_64, can I build x64_64?

I have trouble reading the CLFS, version 1.1.0-x86. (It seems the official
CLFS book hosting server is down, and I am using the book in http://trac.cross-lfs.org/).

Anyway, I am kind of confused at section "7.18"

that it ??, Shall reboot and build ? The book is silent about that.
Chapter 8 continues with "If you are Going to Chroot". Again, this is confusing, if I can chroot, I might as well stick to LFS.
I assume when I finish chapter 7, I can jump to chapter 9, but then
there is such a huge discontinuity. My minimum understanding is that
I shall boot to the minimal linux system to build the rest of LFS.

Advancing quickly, chapter 13 "The End" says "13.3. Rebooting the System."

So at which point I reboot, after chapter 7 or chapter 13 ?
